BOCA RATON, Fla. — A man who stuffed his girlfriend inside a duffel bag was trying to sneak her into an halfway house.
A man who was walking his dog call 911. He told police he saw a man hunched over a large duffel bag in a Walgreens parking lot, talking to it. He said the man lifted the duffel bag into his car when a arm came out. The man then pushed the arm back inside the bag and then drove off.
The police located the car and questioned Jared Mustrat and his girlfriend, Jessica Tosi.
Mustrat told police he was staying at a sober-living halfway house in Boca for men that didn’t allow overnight visitors. Mustrat claimed he put his girlfriend in the bag so he could take her inside without anyone noticing. Tosi also told police she voluntarily got into the bag.
Police said no crime was committed, so Mustrat and Tosi were allowed to leave.
The investigation into missing nurse of a Palm Beach school which took investigators to Clewiston where they discovered her body. It all ended Sunday in a Miami neighborhood with the death of the prime suspect, her ex-husband.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said Dr. Albert Lambert died of a drug overdose in the home of his sister and her boyfriend.
Neighbors in the Coral Gate neighborhood were shock to learn that the man who investigators believe murdered Kimberly Lindsey, and dumped her decapitated body in a sugarcane field in Clewiston, was inside the home a few doors down.

Police in Holly Hill said two adults are facing charges. The police said they walked into a house of horror on Halloween after finding a badly decomposing body in a house of filth.
Todd La Duke 38 and 31-Year-old Nicole Scalise are charged with child neglect and failing to report a dead body. We did not know she was dead the couple told police, but believed she had died of natural causes.
Police were called to do a well being check on the 33-year-old victim, Tiffany Kain, who was in a wheelchair because of spina bifida.
Investigators said the house on Center Avenue was full of urine, animal feces and garbage, and that the smell of the dead body was overwhelming. The home also did not have any running water and the electricity was being used illegally through jumpers, the arrest report said.
Hendry County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the body appears to have been there for a couple of days.
Detectives will follow up with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office to determine if this unidentified body has any ties to Palm Beach County,” a news release from the PBSO stated.
So far, authorities have only called Lindsey a missing person.
Kimberly Lindsey was reported missing by co-workers at Bak Middle School of the Arts after she didn’t show up for work Monday. She hasn’t been seen since Saturday evening.
Investigators said Lindsey is considered endangered because of the uncharacteristic nature of her disappearance.
2 killed in early-morning crash; third victim hospitalized. Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 northbound in Stuart.
It’s not clear what caused one of the vehicles to be driving on the wrong side of the highway, nor were the identities of the victims known. Highway patrol officials said four vehicles — including a tractor-trailer — were involved in a domino-effect type of crash at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday just south of Kanner Highway.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and three others were taken to area hospitals. A second person later died at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center
Florida Highway Patrol officials are still investigating the crash.
A woman in a motorized chair was killed attempting to cross a busy road in Palm Springs.
Around 9:30 a.m., local police and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a woman being struck by a Dodge pick-up as she was attempting to cross the street on Congress Avenue.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a Dodge Ram driven by Karl Fishman, 62, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was traveling south on Congress Avenue and struck the 81 year old woman that was traveling west across Congress Avenue under a red pedestrian signal.
She was rush to a nearby hospital were she later died.
It happened around 9:30 this morning on Congress Avenue and Greenbrier Drive.
The woman was trying to cross Congress in a motorized chair when she was hit by the driver of pickup truck.
The woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — A man is in jail now after stabbing his stepson and injuring his stepdaughter early Friday morning.
Indian River County Sheriffs received a called to a home in the 2500 block of 14th Street early Friday morning and discovered the boy stabbed in his head. The 12 year-old was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Keith Underwood was taken into custody in Fort Pierce. Underwood is a stepfather of two children. The 15-year-old girl and her mother were also injured in the attack and was taken to the hospital but later release.
17 – year-old Estefania Rodriguez and her 2-year-old baby daughter were not seen since about 6 a.m. Monday and haven’t been heard from neither, PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.
The Rodriguez family thinks she is with her boyfriend.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition after he leaped off the Tri-Rail train Monday night. Police say the man was trying to get his cellphone.
A southbound train had just departed when the 26-year-old man, noticed later he left his cellphone on a bench. The man pulled the emergency cord. Police said Eddie Diaz jumped off the train but slipped and injured his head.
He just tried to get his cell phone back, one passenger said.
STUART, Fla. — 55-year-old Victoria Thomason a middle school teacher has been removed from her Treasure Coast classroom after she and her son were arrested, accused of growing marijuana out of their home. Thomason has been teaching social studies with the Martin County school for eight years.
She and her 25-year-old son, Russell Thomason, were arrested Friday. Deputies served a search warrant at the Thomason home and found 58 cannabis plants inside the Stuart home.
Victoria Thomason told authorities they were not selling the marijuana but growing it for her son’s medicinal use. The sheriff did not take her statement seriously.
Palm Beach spokesperson said. “My impression and belief is that it was being sold.”

Within months of his arrival, he threatened the couple’s son with a knife. He killed their son’s pet hamster. Then, in a moment that should have spurred child care officials to act, he raped the 3-year-old daughter of a visiting friend.
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. —Police are investigating a shooting in Riviera Beach, HITFLI has learned.
Few details were immediately available, but HITFLI has a crew en route to west 36th Street after reports of gunfire there at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Police scanner traffic indicated that the victim was dead, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Information about suspects and motives was not available.
The girl was playing behind a parked car when she ran towards her mother and was struck by an SUV pulling into a parking lot. She expected to survive.
Ryan Arrandale Has Been Apprehended
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A prisoner that escaped in West Palm Beach has been caught.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies was searching for Ryan Arrandale that ran out the back door of the Florida Department of Corrections facility near the South Florida Fairgrounds early Tuesday morning.
Arrandale was discovered in some bushes behind a house inside the Breakers West community. He was apprehended by K-9 deputies and taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
New Florida law makes it illegal to text or dial while driving in your vehicle, Florida is now the 40th state to ban texting while driving.
If you want to text while driving, starting Tuesday Oct 1, 2013 it will be against the law in Florida. The new law will ban texting behind the wheel, and Florida drivers who are caught could face a fine.
Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Taren Castro said the ban is a secondary offense, which means a driver must be stopped for something else to get cited for texting while driving.

A pickup truck ran into the back of a Jeep early this Monday morning in Boynton Beach, both drivers had to be rush to a near by hospital. The accident happened shortly before 4 a.m. around Boynton Beach Boulevard.
Palm Beach County Sheriff said the Toyota pickup truck was traveling west when it slammed in the back of the Jeep Cherokee.
The driver of Jeep overturned, hitting a traffic box, while the pickup truck struck into a power pole.
The drivers of both vehicle were taken to Bethesda West Medical Center, where they were being treated for minor injuries.
An investigating is going on to see was alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Stephen Stubbs 51, accused of sex crimes with underage parishioner. Stubbs surrendered to authorities Wednesday night. The Wellington man faces a charge of unlawful sexual contact with a minor. According to a probable cause affidavit, the 17-year-old victim joined the church in the summer of 2008 and the unlawful activity occurred months later.

BELLE GLADE, FLORIDA — Officials of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office is looking for Paul Metellus 64, who went missing on Saturday.
Metellus has gray hair, brown eyes and wears glasses. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt.
His car was discovered near a cane field in Belle Glades.

Palm Beach, Fla. — Two people were wounded in a shooting outside a Belle Glade cellphone store.
The shooting happened Thursday afternoon outside the Boost Mobile store on Southwest 16th Street.
A store employee said that he heard arguing outside and saw a crowd gather. That’s when shots were fired and everyone took off running.
The two victims were taken to a near by Hospital. Both sustained non life-threatening injuries
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office did not release a motive for the shooting.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Corey Graham Jr. 20-years-old was convicted of murdering a popular Belle Glade grocery store owner during a robbery in 2012. Graham was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday.
There was an emotional outburst following the guilty verdict.
GrahamJr., convicted last month in the fatal shooting of Alabama Georgia Grocery store owner Jimmy McMillan.
Investigators said Graham told them he robbed the store for money, but shot McMillan when the store owner reached for a gun.
After the verdict was read in court last month, McMillan’s sister was given the opportunity to speak and said she hoped Graham would “rot in hell.”
A 17-year-old Royal Palm Beach boy drowned off Peanut Island on Monday after he strayed well beyond the guarded swimming area while spending Labor Day at the park. He apparently was swept away by the outgoing tide, authorities said.
Kenrud Belony was wading with a small group on a sand bar near an anchored sailboat about 70 yards from the island’s east side when he either decided to head into deeper water or was pulled out by the strong current, said Lt. Allison Kelly of Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue, who pulled him from the water.
A Fort Myers man was found guilty on Monday in Miami -Dade Courts for the murder of NFL star Sean Taylor during a robbery attempt at the player’s South Miami home.
The jury found Eric Rivera guilty of 2nd degree murder and burglary with an assault and battery.
All five subjects in the November 2007 robbery and murder were from Lee County.
The men planned to break into Taylor’s residence under the impression he kept cash at the home. However, the Washington Redskins player was at home nursing an injury.
In the video, Rivera is heard telling investigators he shot Taylor in the leg once; causing him to bleed to death.
Three teens were killed in a rollover crash that happened on Immokalee Road Halloween night.
It happened just before 11 p.m. In Golden Gate Estates.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, four young teens were headed east on Immokalee Road in a Mustang. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved off the road, hit a concrete culvert and the car flipped and landed on its roof killing all three victims.
The boys were pronounced dead at the scene, the fourth was able to climb out of the car and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Jacob Garibay, Joseph Daguerre Jr. and Gerardo Ruiz, all 17, were all killed on impact.
Lamorris Hall, 16, survived and is being treated in the hospital.

Officer Jason Jackson is accused of assaulting his wife during an argument on Friday. This is not the conduct that we would expect from one of our officers.
Justin Campos of Collier County was killed Tuesday. He was serving a life sentence in prison for murder.
A spokesperson with the Department of Corrections said detectives at Madison Correctional Institution are investigating the death of Justin Campos.
Detectives have roped off the crime scene where Campos died and are interviewing inmates who were their at the time. Correction officers say it appeared he died durning a fight with another inmate in a common area around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Officials will not release the cause of death or specific details until the investigation is completed.
The prison notified the Campos family. The body was taken to the County Medical Examiner’s office.
In 2011, Campos was convicted of Second Degree Murder for the death of two men in the parking lot of a strip club in Fort Myers. During the trial, Campos maintained his innocence, saying he shot them in self-defense.
CAPE CORAL-The Cape Coral Police Department are investigating the death of an 80-year old man outside a Cape Coral Public.
Officers say the man was found dead inside a parked truck in the parking lot at an Public located in the plaza .
Police units will be on-scene for a while.
However, there is no suspect at large in this situation nor any danger to the public.
The department doesn’t usually release information regarding death investigations, except for cases where foul play is suspected.
In this case, however, the department wanted to address concerns given the public and highly visible location.
HENDRY COUNTY - Hendry County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Lazy Springs ATV Park, near State Road 82, after receiving calls that a helicopter had crashed Sunday morning.
When deputies arrived on the scene they found the pilot, Donald Purden, 60, of Fort Myers, conscious and alert. Purden appeared to be suffering from what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital.
Witnesses reported the pilot had attempted to land when it began to auto-rotate.
The helicopter lifted approximately 30-40 feet into the air and after losing power, the aircraft plunge to the ground.
The crash is being investigated by FAA.
The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. Thursday.
The victim, a 16-year-old had just gotten off a bus and was walking when Viand Rodriguez, was shot away from the bus.
Rodriguez was shot in the lower leg and rush to a near by Hospital with a non-life threatening injury. According to a report, she must undergo surgery for the injury.
Deputies say the subject Turner was riding a bike when he shot her and then road away. He was arrested later at his home. Turner is being charged with aggravated battery and also marijuana-possession with intent to sell.
Turner’s bond was set at $385,000. His next court date is October 28th.

A man wanted for a sexual battery charge that happened in Cape Coral was detained Wednesday in Massachusetts. 48 year-old Jeffrey A. Eclair, was arrested by the Massachusetts State Police on a Capital Sexual Battery warrant issued by the Cape Coral Police Department in August. The woman reported that her daughter told her she had been sexually abused by the woman’s male companion for the past several months. The woman and her 7-year-old daughter had been living with Eclair in their Cape Coral home. Eclair denied the allegations when interviewed by detectives. Eclair then left to Massachusetts. The victim described the abuse to child counselors and also to investigators. He will face extradition back to Florida.
EAST NAPLES, FL - An elderly couple was trapped inside their home in East Naples during a fire. The fire started early Tuesday morning. The wife made it out safe, but her husband did not survive.
First responders arrived at the home on Mustang Drive just after 1 a.m.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office stated that John Lettuce 87 died in the fire. His wife, 87-year-old Elizabeth Lettuce, was taken to a local hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
It was the Lettich’s duplex home that caught fire. Their unit is a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Three Southwest Florida families are accusing Charlotte County deputies of brutality against their children. This comes after the kids were arrested for trespassing at Port Charlotte middle school over the weekend.
The parents of three kids want to make one thing clear, they aren’t against punishment for their kids for breaking the law. What they are fighting is the way the children were allegedly treated by law enforcement.
We have watched the cell phone video shot by parents of the boys. Mirna Spinal tells us it’s the tail end of an earlier scene that sent chills down her spine. The police officers were threatening to put parents under custody for wanting to know what was going on with their children,” she said.
According to Lee County Crime Stoppers, Antonio Hall chose to turn himself in at the Lee County Jail.
Authorities say Hall was seen by Lee County Sheriff’s deputies on an ATV speeding through neighborhoods in Lehigh Acres. Deputies went after Hall but he managed to escape.
Hall went to the Lee County Jail and turned himself in at 9:12 p.m. on Sunday.
Hall was put on the list Friday after being charged with crimes ranging from drug dealing to murder. He also faces charges of driving without a license and eluding law enforcement officers.
Hall appeared in court Monday morning. His bail was set at $500,000. His former bond of $50,000 was revoked.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bed bugs have been found in rooms in the Prince Murat Motel on North Monroe St. in Tallahassee.
One hotel resident says she had been bitten by bed bugs on her neck, shoulders, and ear after a stay in the hotel.
The bed bugs infested their room where they have been staying for the past three months. The problem has gotten so bad that bugs have spread to other rooms, affecting other guests.
The infestation has prompted inspectors from the Florida Business and Professional Regulation to investigate. The motel has been cited with three key violations including live roaches and bed bugs present and dead bed bugs being present.
Motel management refused to comment on the guest claims.
TALLAHASSEE - The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested and charged a suspect with enticement of a child.
Police say 24-year-old Randy Travis Navarre was arrested late Thursday evening and charged with electronic solicitation of a child.
On Wednesday, the mother of the teen reported to police she discovered messages from Navarre of a “sexual nature” on her 15-year-old daughter’s cell phone.
The first shooting happened at apartments located on the 1400 block of Alabama Street. Police were called to the scene at about 4 p.m. Officers say the victim, 24-year-old Takendrick Grant, was shot in his hand, upper leg, and chest area. A suspect — 19-year-old LaPadre Sharpe — was later arrested and charged with first degree murder.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Tallahassee Police Department Special Victims Unit is searching for 14-year-old Sophina Harris. The teen has been missing for two days now.
Harris is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 125-135 pounds. Her hair is black on top and brown on the bottom. She was last seen on September 29, walking in the area of 2700 West Tharpe Street. She was last seen wearing dark purple pants and a gray hoodie with the word Aeropostale in pink writing.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A puppy is being held as a hero, Onyx was badly burned in the house fire and is now being treated at a hospital in Gainesville.
Dr. Kevin Brumfield and his wife took the puppy Sunday for treatment on his kidneys and other medical conditions.
Sierra Plair says Onyx alerted her and her family to a fire Thursday morning at her home on Lake Avenue. I don’t know what we would have done if Onyx did not warned us. Thanks to our little hero Onyx. He is a very brave and caring dog one of the family friends said.
They escaped but veterinarians tell us Onyx received burns on at least 30 percent of his body. The family says they expect it will take some time for Onyx to recover but they’re hopeful he’ll come home soon.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Police responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Tharpe Street and Mission Road. It happened sometime before 7:15am on Friday, September 27th.
The Consolidated Dispatch System in Leon County says it involved a Leon County School Bus, but no children were on board.
Leon County Sheriff Deputies say Robert Butler, was shot just after 9 pm Saturday on the 4700 block of Maylor Road. Butler was then taken to a local hospital where he died.
The family is now searching for answers, as an investigation is underway. There is no word yet on who is responsible for the shooting.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A bill filed by two Florida legislators would ban sex offenders on probation from accessing pornography.
Senate Bill 182 and House Bill 73 would modify a Florida law that says offenders are only banned from the type of pornography that relates to their offense. This bill would prohibit the possession of any obscene, pornographic, or sexually stimulating material; this includes auditory and visual content.
The legislation was filed by Senator Kelli Stargel (R-Lakeland) and Representative Katie Edwards (D-Plantation).
If passed, the bill would take effect on July 14, 2014.
2 Pedestrians Killed On I-10 Highway
The Florida Highway Patrol released the names of two pedestrians killed when they stopped to assist another driver Sunday night. It happened in a grass median on I-10 in Jefferson County. 30-year-old David Stone and Tecari Czarnecki died due to their injuries.
The driver that killed them is Shiv Patel 22-year-old, Patel only sustained minor injuries.
The Tallahassee Police Department is searching the whereabouts of Marcus Montgomery 22.

Officer David Northway with Tallahassee Police Department tells The News that the accident happened late on September 5 at the intersection of Old Bainbridge Road and West Tharpe Street. That is where Northway says two vehicles collided head on.
While a specific number of passengers involved is not known, we’re told at least two people were taken to a local hospital near by with life threatening injuries.

ST. CLOUD, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been charged with stabbing his daughter with a sword.
Police in St. Cloud, about 30 miles south of Orlando, were called to a physical altercation at a home around 10 p.m. Friday.
Forty-four-year-old Juan Lovine allegedly stabbed his daughter with a sword. The weapon went through her first forearm and into her chest cavity.
She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition. Lovine was also hospitalized with an eye injury. He has been charged with attempted felony murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
PALM COAST, Fla. A man suspected of carjacking a Chinese food delivery man on Saturday was taken into custody in South Carolina.
According to a release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Giuseppe Verdone of Palm Coast is charged with: Carjacking, Kidnapping to inflict bodily harm, Falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer and Aggravated battery.
After the victim jumped from the vehicle, Verdone then met up with a 15-year-old girl. They fled in Gong’s vehicle to Liberty County, Georgia, where he gave police chase.
Duff and 27 year-old Justin Osteen was arrested and charge with burglarizing FP & L.
The authorities also saw several rolls of copper wire that had been removed from inside the fenced area and were located outside the facility that is use for electrical work.
Osteen was not found at the scene but was later found by St. Johns County deputies at a residence in St. Augustine.
Duff and Osteen were charged with burglary grand theft.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The St. Augustine Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects in a theft at Target store on U.S 1 Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
According to a SAPD press release, the suspects drove to the store at 12:51 a.m. The two suspects are seen entering the store at about 1 a.m. after prying the exit doors open.
The subjects smashed the iPod, iPad and Beats headphone glass display cases and took various items, the release says. The thieves were seen leaving the store minutes later. A car was caught on camera leaving the parking lot at 1 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - School officials in Jacksonville have fired a physical education teacher who allegedly punched a Eugene J. Butler Middle student in the face.
The reports that Michael Louis Green was fired came earlier this month. He was placed under arrested.
According to school district documents, Green smacked a female student with his fist after she pushed him in the chest.
Superintendent Nikolai Vitte called the incident “excessively egregious” and says the district moved that day to have Green fired. He says there has to be a “zero-tolerance policy on hitting students.”
Investigators say Green was trying to remove a student who was cursing and shouting at another teacher.
The student had no significant injuries and is back in school.

The assailants came in, put them all on the ground at gunpoint and pistol whipped the lady almost immediately,” in Orange County on Wednesday.
“The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said, the assailants kicked in the home’s front door and attacked the family.
Deputies believe the family was targeted for some particular reason by these suspects but did not give further detail.
According to authorities, they know who they are looking for because of surveillance cameras positioned on neighboring homes.
An Orange County Sheriff’s spokes person said “We think we are comfortable that we can bring these people to justice soon.” We are hopeful. Neighbors said they have been broken into before and that is why they have installed the security cam.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —A man is now custody at Jacksonville International Airport told security screeners he had a bomb in his backpack, but they only found an electronic scale and batteries, authorities said.
39-year-old Zeljko Caesuric, was arrested early Wednesday. He’s accused of lying about a bomb in backpack.
Authorities stated that Caesuric approached screeners at the security checkpoint and told them he has a bomb.
Police had to evacuated the airport and flights were stopped before reaching the gates. Passengers were displaced for hours.
“People started ducking,” and running out of the airport.”
Another man was arrested after he started acting suspiciously, but officials said he’s not connected to Caesuric.
A woman sentenced to 20 years in prison after she fired a warning shot in a wall during a dispute with her husband that attacked her in their home.
The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled that a judge did not properly instruct the jury handling the case of Alexander.
But the appeals court did also state that the judge was right to block Alexander from using the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law as a way to defend her actions.
Alexander had never been arrested before she fired a bullet at a wall one day in 2010 to scare off her husband when she felt he was threatening her.
LAKE CITY, Fla. — A fatal accident that occurred late Monday night killed at least one teen and left several others injured.
The deadly crash happen around 8:55 p.m. near the intersection of US 41 (SW Main Boulevard) and SW Malone Street.
Witnesses at the scene told officers that a black 1991 Chevy pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old male, was driving northbound on US 41 and entered the intersection of SW Malone Drive at the same time a green 2001 Ford truck, driven by a 16-year-old male, entered the same intersection driving westbound. The trucks struck each other, causing the green Ford truck to spin out of control. Two teens in the bed of the black Chevy pickup truck were ejected in the collision.
Howard-Mercado, a passenger in the green truck, was ejected through the side window. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 57-year-old teacher from Mandarin Middle School was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning.
Julie Shepherd, 57, allegedly lost control of her black Toyota SUV and slammed into a Chevy Camaro heading northbound on I-95, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shepherd’s SUV and the sports car driven by 29-year-old Brian Bradley, both went into the shoulder and hit a guardrail. She was killed on impact.
The Duval County School District has a crisis team and extra counselors at the school providing students and staff with grief counseling.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man shot at a Federal Judge home and now has received an indictment over 25 different federal charges including the attempted murder of United States District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan.
24-year-old Aaron Richardson did not appear for court hearings on June 3 and 11, according to a Department of Justice press release. Shortly after, Richardson allegedly stole a Savage Arms .30-06 rifle and ammunition from a Sports Authority store in Jacksonville.
On June 23, Richardson alleged started shooting his rifle at Judge Corrigan’s home.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Shooting took place injuring three people that tried to escape the famous and busy nightclub early Friday morning.
Following what detectives describe as a, “Mass exodus of people,” around 2:15 a.m. from Plush Night Club, three people were shot, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Homicide Sgt. Steve Zona.
The three gunshot victims were transported from the nightclub to an area hospital. One victim is currently in critical condition, the other two are in stable condition.
All three victims were shot inside the nightclub, according to officers.
A fourth person drove themselves to a local hospital with what was initially believed to be a gunshot wound, but was later determined to be a cut. That victim is listed in stable condition.
According to police, the suspects drove into the front doors of the store around 3:30 a.m.
Officers responding to the alarm at 600 S. Charles Beall Boulevard said, they noticed upon their arrival that the glass doors were broken into.
The release states that the store’s surveillance video allegedly showed a light colored mid-90′s Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup truck ram into the doors. Three men, who appeared to be in their 20s, wearing long sleeved shirts and their faces covered by a mask or clothes exited the vehicle. They placed boxes upon boxes of cigarettes in garbage bags and left the scene.
A former high school teacher from Montana was released Thursday after serving just a 30-day prison sentence for raping a 14-year-old student. He is “still skating” justice six years after the assault, the victim’s mother said.
54 year-old Stacey Rambold, will leave the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge after completing the term handed down by District Judge G. Todd Baugh of Billings last month for a rape that happened 2007 in Cherice Moralez.
The sentence drew protests for being too lenient and outrage over comments the judge made that appeared to pin some of the blame on Moralez.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that took place Thursday night.
Police were called to Leland Street just before 11:30 p.m. to reports of two men shot.
One of the victims was shot in the leg and Taurus Lemont Dawson was shot in the head in the Lackawanna area of the Westside.
Jacksonville’s Fire and Rescue Department transported both men to a local hospital where the victim who was shot in the head died from his injuries.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two teenage girls both 15-years-old are victims in a pending sex crime case and were targeted to be killed, said The State Attorney’s Office.
The release says that 32-year-old Daniel Lowry supposedly wrote a letter from prison scheming to have the girls murdered. He wanted to keep them from testifying at trial. Lowry provided physical descriptions of both victims and where they lived. In his letter he told where the gun could be found to carry out the murders.
A State Attorney’s Office investigator went undercover posing as a hit man for hired to eliminate the young ladies and the release says the investigator recovered the gun that was identified in the letter.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 8-year-old girl remains in critical condition at Wolfson Children’s Hospital after she nearly drowned Monday.
The girl was swimming in a community pool near the 12000 block of Brians Creek Drive, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO). There were no lifeguards on duty.
According to a JSO police report a witness said all the children were playing at the shallow end of the pool when a child said the victim threw up underwater and wasn’t moving. The witness pulled the girl out of the pool and administered CPR until officials arrived.
Another witness overheard the victim saying she did not know how to swim. He didn’t think anything of it because all the children were playing together in the pool.
The pool has a sign that reads “No Lifeguards are on Duty”.
JSO is continuing to investigate the incident and no charges have been filed at this time.
ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — Connor Baker, 9, is doing fine, but he experienced quite a scare after he was bitten by a shark Sunday.
The St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the child was bitten by a shark around noon while netting with some friends south of the Ocean Trace Ramp in St. Augustine Beach.
He lifted up his leg and you could see the white streaks where he was bitten. The wounds were pretty deep said Ryan Baker, Connor’s father.
“I didn’t cry,” said Connor, who was bitten on his left leg calf.
Palm Bay police are searching for a man who tried to lure two girls into the woods. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The mother of the two girls told police the girls – ages 2 and 4 – were playing in the family’s backyard when a six feet tall man wearing camouflage came out of the woods and told them his dog was hurt and needed them to help his dog.
The girl’s mother spotted the tall heavy-set man and ran outside, prompting the man to leave . The girls were not harmed.
Five schools in the Seminole County area were placed on lockdown for about two hours Tuesday morning after a robbery at a nearby bank in Sanford.
The following schools — one public and four private — were on lockdown from 10 a.m. until just before noon:
The suspect, however, remains on the run. Seminole County deputies said they are looking for a man accused of robbing a Bank of America.

DAYTONA BEACH – Sheriff’s Office is still searching for the bodies or remains of Yessenia Suarez and her children Michael Otto, 8 and Thalia Otto, 9.
Suarez’s husband Luis Toledo and a person of interest in their disappearance, is back in custody after trying to kill himself at a Volusia County facility Saturday.
It has been a difficult and hard week for family and friends. They were told by the Sheriff’s Office that Suarez and her two children – Thalia and Michael Otto are dead, but their bodies have not been located.
The children’s biological father, Michael Otto, spoke for the first time on camera. Otto said he’s frustrated, but still holding out hope that his children and their mother are alive.
“Well, being what the police have given us as far as the information.They’ve been very vague.They haven’t given us the whole story They’ve told us that the kids along with the mother are deceased and they won’t give us any reason why. I still have hope,” Otto said.
Otto said it’s frustrating that deputies have not told them how they know the family is dead. He wants to know more about the search efforts.

The two young girls arrested were ages 12 and 14. They are facing felony charges of aggravated stalking. The girls would torment Sedwick in person and online.
Authorities believe that the victim 12, killed herself by jumping from a closed cement plant in Lakeland this September after being tormented by bullies.

There is a reward of $19,000 being offered for anyone who knows what happened to an elderly woman found dead in her burned home.
The woman, identified as 83-year-old Elena Ortega, was found dead Wednesday morning after her Turnbull Drive house was apparently set ablaze. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating her death as a homicide and unrelated to the fire.
Deputies also said on Thursday that they are searching for a red Dodge Neon possibly connected to Ortega’s death.

A 16-year-old male student was shot in the hip and a 17-year-old male was shot in the leg or ankle on Friday afternoon during a fight at an Orlando school, officials say.
The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. at Agape Christian Academy on Hiawassee Road near Silver Star Road.
Deputies said a group of teens gathered in the parking lot of the school when a brawl took place because of an ongoing dispute. Multiple shots were fired and the shooter got into a car and left the scene, according to witness.
One of the young teens were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The second student was taken to a nearby hospital with his family after the shooting.

A school spokesperson said they are awaiting test results from the health department to show what made the students sick. The results are expected some time next week.
A Central Florida Mother is seeking answers after her 5-year-old daughter told her she was kicked off the school bus after vomiting.
Orange County Public School policy dictates that when a child is sick on a bus, the driver is supposed to call dispatch, then bring the student to the school for the parent to pick up their child, a school spokeswoman said. It’s still unclear if the bus driver called dispatch.
According to the Orange County Public School district the girl left the bus and was not taken to school after vomiting.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A Central Florida evangelist is facing three counts of impersonating law enforcement charges after deputies in Osceola County say he pulled out a badge on another driver and ordered him to pull over.
Almed Jurado was place in custody over the weekend after the altercation in Kissimmee.
Jurado is now charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer. He was booked into the Osceola County jail but is now free after posting bond.
The angry mother of an 8-year-old Central Florida boy is fighting back after her son was suspended from school for using his finger as a play gun.
Bonnie Bennett said her son, Jordan, was suspended Friday at Harmony Community School in Osceola County for playing cops and robbers with another student.
“There was nothing in his hand Bennett said. He was just using his thumb and index finger,” she stated. “It was a game kids do it all the time. He did not threaten to harm anyone. No words were said.”
Bennett said it worried me that he’s been suspended, her son will be seen as a violent child.
Bennett said she’ll continue to fight, hoping the principal will remove the suspension from her son’s school record.
DeBARY, Fla. – A Sanford Middle School teacher was arrested on child pornography charges Monday, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
James Stevens was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s cyber crimes unit. Stevens, teaches gifted math classes at Sanford Middle School. He faces more than 20 counts of child porn possession.
Officials said they found several images and videos on Stevens’s computer. The child pornography allegedly features girls ages 7 to 12.
The school confirmed that Stevens is suspended with pay pending an investigation.
A 12-year-old boy from Rhode Island was suspended after his parents say he brought a gun-shaped key chain on school property.
The key chain, no bigger than the size of a quarter his mother said, fell out of her son backpack at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School in Coventry on Thursday. Another boy then picked it up and began playing with it and showing it off. This boy was the one waving it or showing it to other kids. Not Joseph. Joseph wasn’t doing that so why weren’t both of them reprimanded,” Joseph’s mother, told the school’s Vice Principal.
The school district declined to discuss specifics of the case.

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A missing 10-year-old girl and her father 53, were found safe and sound early Friday in Brevard County after their boat capsized while fishing on the Indian River.
The pair was discovered around 5:30 a.m. walking along the NASA Causeway after spending 12 long hours in the water following the boating mishap, officials said.
The father, Wallace Schroder, said he eventually swam to shallow water and his daughter used a life jacket before they walked 5 miles and before a passerby gave them a ride into town.
Daytona Beach police said Green was shot about five times by two officers and was rush to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He was taken into surgery but is expected to survive. Green played running back at Washington State University and signed a contract with the New York Giants in 2004. He was cut by the team a few months later.
The woman, identified as Katrina Johnson 37, was struck in the arm by a bullet. She was also taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
DeLand Police Officer Ran Over and Killed Fleeing Man
DeLAND, Fla. – The State Attorney’s Office will determine if a former DeLand Police Officer who ran over and killed a man should face criminal charges.
The grand jury will see if there is enough evidence to charge the former officer. A news conference will be held at 3 p.m. outside of the Voles County courthouse in DeLand.
The state attorney’s office has been investigating Marlon Brown’s death since July 2013, but ultimately decided to have a grand jury review the evidence.
Brown was killed in May after Officer James Harris ran him over with his patrol car. Brown was running from police for an apparent seat belt violation when he was killed.
The Brown family accepted a $550,000 settlement with the city but they still want Harris to face charges.
Harris was fired from DeLand Police Department in July.
Updated News: The State Attorney’s Office announced the grand jury won’t indict the former DeLand police officer, who ran over and killed a man, on criminal charges.
George Zimmerman was involved in an altercation with his soon to be ex-wife Shellie earlier today outside of Sanford Florida.
Zimmerman who did not take his medication like he should on a daily basis, lost it over the couples dog. Mrs. Zimmerman called 911 to report that her estranged husband had a gun and might use it to shoot them. I feel George thinks he is invincible after he was acquitted in the killing of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was questioned and released by police. No charges were filed.

Orange County Deputies Search For 11 Year Old
Orange County deputies are searching for an 11-year-old girl who vanished on Wednesday after leaving Robinswood Middle School.
Just that day, Vanessa Marcellus had gotten in trouble at the school, located at 6305 Balboa Drive in Orlando. She was last seen at around 1:30 p.m. wearing a pink uniform-style polo and blue uniform-style skirt.
Officers were informed that Marcellus was sighted at the Woodhill Apartments, which are located at the intersection of Balboa Drive and Dorscher Road. She was not there when officers arrived.
Anyone with information can call the missing persons unit at 1-800-836-4357.
Wheeler, who also owns the Horse World Riding Stables, was arrested in April on charges of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl over 100 times. Another person came forward after the arrest saying Wheeler also abused her several years ago when she was around 6 years old.
Deputies are now investigating why it took so long for them to be notified about the incident. ”We do know his offenses are serious, capital sexual battery on victims under the age of 12,” Investigator Lizasuain said.
Wheeler was arrested in April and was released under conditions which required him to wear an ankle monitor. He’s accused of sexually abusing two relatives, who investigators say he has not contacted so far.
Wheeler is described as a white male, 6 feet tall and 170 pounds with gray hair and green eyes. Anyone with information on Wheeler’s whereabouts is asked to call the Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
A missing elderly woman was found safe early Tuesday in a locked room inside the assisted living facility from which she was reported missing a day earlier.
The Oviedo Police Department said Janet Mate Palastak Gault, 88, was found around 2:30 a.m. asleep inside the room, which was described by police as a “locked, vacant room.”
A search had been launched for Gault, who has Alzheimer’s and walks with a cane.
Sheriff’s at Hillsborough County investigators say that a music lessons teacher who is a church volunteer was able to molest a girl for three years without anyone noticing a thing.
It all happen in 2010 when the girl was only 9 years old. Investigators say William A. Richardson II, 47, of Brandon sexually abuse the girl when she was 9 years old, and then molested her when she was 11. In Sunday school a young girl saw Richardson touching her improperly.
It ended last week when told an adult. It was not immediately clear whether that girl was also a victim.
Richardson is charged with capital sexual battery on a child under 12.
He is accused of child molestation. His name is Rory Patrick Doyle, 58, and he was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Casablanca.

ST. PETERSBURG – Nicholas Lindsey was 16 when he shot and killed Officer Crawford. The teen will spend the rest of his life in prison. A judge re-sentenced Lindsey this morning, there will be no reduction in sentence for the teen cop-killer.
Lindsey, now 17 years of age laughed and shook his head when he heard the news.
Bradenton, Florida — Former Deputy Robert Craig went before a five-member appeals panel to get his job back. The appeals panel voted 4-1 to uphold the termination of former Manatee County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Craig. Craig who lost his job in August over a steroid scandal.
The panel said his attempt to buy steroids violated the code of ethics code.
“The fact is I didn’t know they were steroids or illegal. When I found out it was, I did the right thing, said, ‘No, thank you.’ That is exactly what a deputy should do,” said Former Deputy Craig.

Tampa Bay - A Bay area former elementary school teacher has been sent to prison to spend the rest of his life after being found guilty for having sex with a 12-year-old girl. Michael Lander was sentenced on charges of sexual assault on a student that happen to be a minor. The judge gave him a life sentence Tuesday.
At one point, Lander came before the all-female jury in his underwear to show burn scars on his legs because the young girl, who is now 18, had not mentioned them. Lander claimed he was innocent and never had sex with the girl.
The jury did not buy it and the judge has finalized his sentence.
TAMPA - A 3-year-old female toddler died from internal injuries she suffered during, what could have been multiple sexual assaults by her caretaker, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Deputies arrested Elisamuel Pacheco, 24, and charged him with first degree murder, capital sexual battery and aggravated child abuse.
Investigators said Pacheco was supposed to be caring for the toddler and her 9-month-old twin brothers, but instead was sexually assaulting the little girl. The little girl had been vomiting and was lethargic all week but her family thought she had a virus. The family took her to the Hospital where she die later because of the sexual assaults that had been going on for a long time.
Investigators won’t reveal the relationship between Pacheco and the mother because it involves a child.
Pacheco was arrested for sexually assault, three counts of child abuse and charged with murder. Bond for him was denied.
The State Attorney stated that the Tampa Police Officers and Hillsborough County Law Officials were justified in the use of deadly force and that no charges would be filed against law enforcement officers involved in the shooting.
Bates led police on a high speed chase Sept. 6 along US 301 just north of I-4 in Hillsborough County after an all night crime spree. He was shot and killed by law enforcement when the chase ended.
Detectives say Bates broke into several apartments where he was suspected of sexually assaulting four women and firing shots at several people at that time.

Orange County deputies arrested two men they say were targeting women in two states.
The investigation into the crimes began in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in April after a series of women were robbed of their purses on their way home from work.
Investigators say Darnell Rice, 39 and 40-year-old Felix Pierson were conducting surveillance on their prey, who were typically Asian women working at restaurants. Deputies say the duo followed the women home, then pulled out a gun and stole their purses before they could get inside their homes.
The 22-year-old victim Brianna Anderson, is on life support. Doctors, were able to save the baby. “We’re just thankful that the doctors were able to save the life of her unborn child,” said a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department.
The name of the suspect has not been released; charges are pending.
CLEARWATER - A former Bay area teacher is on trial for his alleged inappropriate relationship with a 12-year-old girl.
Lander, 37, was a teacher at Schrader Elementary School in Pasco County but later resigned after several accusations of having sex with a student.

Though charges have not been formally announced, the 31-year-old Julio Pagan, who was suspended Friday night, is facing two counts of sexual battery and one count of aggravated battery.
It is another black eye for the already embattled Lakeland Police Department, which is dealing with an ongoing sexual misconduct scandal.
Police responded to the address shortly after 12:30 a.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call. The caller said two masked suspects entered the house armed with shotguns and demanded money, cell phones and drugs. The subjects, a white man and woman each had a shotgun.
The two victims, a man and a woman, were in one bedroom when the suspects entered. They were held at gun point but pleaded with the intruders not to hurt them.
The subjects demanded all cell phones. One victim gave his cell phone to the male suspect. The male suspect threw the phone down on the ground smashing it. The male suspect then stole money from a wallet and a bottle of prescription drugs.
Spring Hill, Florida — Authorities at Hernando are searching for the suspect who shot a man four times in Spring Hill.
It happened Tuesday morning at the victims home on Siam Drive. William Donald Steeling was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Hernando Investigators believe Stelling’s neighbor, Thomas Brocato, shot Stelling 4 times.
Hernando SWAT Team surrounded the suspect’s home in the area of Siam Drive and Landover Blvd, but it was unclear if anyone was there.
Investigators warn that Brocato a white male who is armed and dangerous and residents should call 911 if they observe anything suspicious.
WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA
A basketball coach has been arrested and accused of touching a student inappropriately at a Polk County school.
Deputies say Michael Cope of Winter Haven fondled the 15-year-old female student against her will at the school where he works, Lake Region High School in Eagle Lake.
Cope, 52, is head coach of the high school’s varsity basketball team and an ESE aide, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators say Cope admitted sliding his hand over the teenager’s breast on the outside of her clothes while she was serving an in-school suspension. Cope faces a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation.
The state attorney’s office said an autopsy is pending for Robert Walker.
Nov 5, MIAMI, FL. A young girl from South Florida is dead and a man and a dog are recovering after police said two gunmen open fired on a group of people in a neighborhood. Police say the two people were in a van in front of a single family house when the suspect approached.
The shooting happened just after midnight Tuesday in the area of Northwest 1400 block Avenue and 34th Street in Allapattah. According to witnesses, Emaiyne Pittman 16, was sitting in a van and 26-year-old Pedro Nunez was standing beside the vehicle when gun shots were fired. Nunez is being treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital with a graze wound to the side of his head. Investigators said Pittman the young teenage girl, has died at the hospital. Grace Lutheran church pastor David Imhoff Pittman said of the teen, “It’s just sad, as you can imagine. A teenager dying in a homicide like this?”
Nineteen-year-old Jayvon Woolfork was one of five individuals arrested Sunday after police said he forced a girl into having sex while others pend her down. Officials said the victim was visiting a friend near McKinley Street and 16th Court when she was severely beaten by Woolfork and four others before being raped. The 16-year-old left the residence and contacted authorities from her grandmother’s residence. Erica Avery, 16, Patricia Montes, 15, Henry Dwight, 17, Laniel N. Singleton, 18, allegedly held the victim down while Jayvon Woolfork, 19 assaulted her. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A South Florida teen is recovering after being shot near her Elementary School. It unclear what cause the shooting it still remains unknown what motivated the shooting or where the shooter fled. A perimeter was set up along Southwest 52nd Avenue, but a search did not turn up any suspects.

Miami-Dade police say Bartolo Gelsomino confessed to killing his wife 71-year-old Ana Gelsomino on Jan. 21 and staging a brake-in to cover up the crime. He faces second-degree murder charges and will be arraigned Feb. 11. The Miami Herald reports the couple’s daughter found her mother’s body in the kitchen. As police searched the home, Gelsomino — a Sicily-born man who primarily speaks Italian — showed up. They noticed two possible blood stains on his shirt. Gelsomino told police he stabbed his wife during an argument for not making him a cheese hamburger. He then led detectives to a trash bin in a nearby warehouse where he tossed the knife. He told police later she made the best hamburger in the world. That day it was a hamburger, another day it was eggs, their daughter, who wished to remain anonymous, to. Officials say the scene is affecting school children in Hialeah and Miami Lakes area. About a dozen school buses are parked in a nearby lot. Two bus drivers were able to leave but police have shut down the area, forcing other drivers to wait to get access to their buses.

MIAMI – Lawyers for Derek Medina, the South Miami man accused of killing his wife and then putting pictures of her dead body on Facebook will go before a judge Tuesday and argue that he be granted bail.
The photo posted on Facebook showed Alfonso, 26, on her knees with her torso bent back on the kitchen floor.
MIAMI-DADE – A 20-year-old woman at a South Florida hotel was sexually assaulted. Police have released a description of man believed to be the accused attacked after picking her up at a local bus stop and telling her he would give her a job. What kind of job, the woman asked? A good job you will see.
According to police, on Aug. 1, around 11:30 a.m., the female was waiting to get on the bus near southwest 137th Avenue and 26th Street in Southwest Miami, when a man approached her and offered her employment.
“It was in the middle of the day, and that’s what concerns us the most about this individual, that this incident took place at 11:30.
The man then lured the woman into his dark-colored mini van, drove her to La Fuente Hotel along Southwest Eighth Street and 74th Avenue, where he allegedly raped her.
The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his mid 30s, with a medium built and short brown hair. He is believed to weigh about 160 pounds and stand about five feet and five inches tall.

MIAMI – A Brossard Sheriff’s Officer was patrolling the waters off Dania Beach Sunday, when the BSO marine deputy found $700,000 worth of cocaine floating. He took an unexpected turn and came across a bag floating in the ocean.
Deputy James “Brad” Lemieux, according to the Brossard Sheriff’s Office, spotted burlap a mile offshore around 11 a.m. between the Dania Beach Pier and the Port Everglades Inlet.
The object was a rectangular shape, the deputy initially thought it was a trunk, but with further investigation Lemieux discovered a bag stuffed with 25 or more individual packages which eventually tested positive for cocaine.
Police have arrested an alleged gunman in a road rage near the University of Miami, Monday morning. The suspect was place in custody for aggravated battery and possession of drugs.
The subject was hiding from authorities around a Coral Gables apartment complex officials said. The suspect was later identified as Jessie Hernandez.
In a tweet UM Police sent out, the criminal was described as a “white Hispanic male white t-shirt with ponytail and believed to be armed.”
UM police alerted and cautioned students to remain calm and stay indoors as officers searched for the subject.
‘He said my girlfriend’s pimp set me up’
Former Police Sgt. Tomas Muñoz who had 15 years on the force stood before Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge Teresa Palmer Friday. She allowed him to enter a pre-trial intervention program in exchange for a plea. This is a program that is set up for first-time offenders.
If they do not take you for some reason. You must be back here, Judge Palmer told him at the hearing. “If they do accept you, no need to see you sir.” Muñoz says he’s innocent.
Muñoz was arrested and charged with cocaine possession and carrying drug paraphernalia after police found a crack rock and a crack pipe under the mattress of the hotel room where he was staying with a woman in April.
Muñoz insisted it was a set up by the woman he was dating. His arrest came after he had been taken off the streets following an internal investigation by Hialeah Police.
A man on a bike was recorded on surveillance video taking a pair of pricey sneakers outside a Pembroke Pines mosque as worshipers prayed there this week.
Faria Mohamed said her brother kHz placed his $150 Nike Air Jordans on a shoe rack outside the Darul Uloom Institute at 7050 Pines Blvd., Tuesday night but when kHz Mohamed returned from praying, his sneakers were gone. It is customary for Muslims to remove their shoes, which are considered unclean, before entering a mosque.
He thought some friends were playing a prank but later found out a guy on a bike stole his $150 pair of sneakers.
Carlos Gomez – accused by federal authorities of money laundering, lived through a nightmare ever since that day back in 2011. Authorities came and took him away from his house at five in the morning and placed him into custody for two weeks.
“It could happen to anybody, it just happened to me,” he warns. Gomez recounted the events that shook him that very early morning. “They had guns in my face, yelling at me get on the floor, get on the floor, put your hands behind your back, all I can say is what’s going on, what happened, everything that took place seems like a bad dream at that time,” he said.
Gomez has gotten an attorney to filed a lawsuit against Wells Fargo Bank seeking damages for its alleged role in his ordeal.
According to the suit, which was filed in federal court, the feds arrested Gomez a Wells Fargo Bank employee and his grandmother for stealing $1.2 million. Wells Fargo, stated the lawsuit claims was falsely told by investigators. The money was laundered through an account opened by former customer Carlos Gomez.
PLANTATION – A black male riding a public bus begin harassing a fellow passenger for absolutely no reason. The woman was minding her own business when an unknown black man started verbally harassing her. He was originally sitting next to him on a bus in Plantation but what came next was a surprise to everyone on the bus.
It happened September 17th as Ashley Ahringer, 22, was riding the bus. During the ride, she became agitated by the offending passenger and decided to change seats across from the subject. Her move angered the man.
A third passenger on the bus, Jimmie Singleton, tried to defend Ahringer. The suspect jumped up into Singleton’s face and punched him several times. In an effort to defend himself, Singleton sprayed the man with mace but the man fought back and struck Singleton in the face.
A high speed chase turns deadly after a pursuit. The driver in the SUV began shooting at the suspect in the gray SUV. The incident stretched from South Miami-Dade into Brossard. The Subject is seen here swerving to pass other vehicles on US 27 in Western Brossard County.
The chase ended in a fatal crash killing four people.
NORTH MIAM – An SUV crashed into a Business in North Miami Monday afternoon officials said.
A manager at the business said about 20 people were inside the building at the time of the accident.
Miami-Dade Police have a Homestead man Francisco Grandees 20, behind bars today after a tip. They said he confessed to murdering 18-year-old Tiffany Cabreja. A second suspect remains at large.
Det. Rutland described what the suspect stated next. “They went from the park to the field, at that point they were under the influence of drugs and that is where the killing occurred,” he said.
Officers found the 18-year-old’s body Saturday morning in the abandoned construction site located on the 282nd block of southwest 144th Avenue. Her cause of death has not been determine. Her body was found with a ligature tied tightly around her neck, police said, and a plastic bag placed over her head.
Over three hundred students at Manatee Bay Elementary School were sent home Friday. The school was disinfected over the weekend but school officials asked parents to have their children bring lunch and water bottles from home until the illness can be identified.
FT. LAUDERDALE – Ft. Lauderdale police are investigating a robbery that took place early Tuesday morning, around 6:35 a.m. at Walgreens on Sunrise Boulevard.
The subject approached a register and handed the clerk some money to pay for his items. When the clerk opened the register he leaned over the counter and took some cash.
Police are hoping surveillance video will help them identify the robber.
Miami Beach investigators stated that the crime happened in the early morning hours of Sept. 6 at the Breakwater Hotel just off Ocean Drive and Ninth Street. “A woman from Switzerland got into the hotel elevator, then a black male entered and told her I’m going to the same floor you’re going to, he got off with me, overpowered me, took me to my room, sexually assaulted me and then robbed me of all my money. He ran after that.”
Authorities said the man is a black male in his 20s and about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs over 200 pounds. The subject also has a cursive letter tattoo on his upper left chest.
MIAMI BEACH (WSVN) — A South Florida police officer has been suspended after allegations of excessive force. He is now under investigation by the Miami Beach Police Department and federal authorities.
On June 26, Andrew Mossberg was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail after he was allegedly beaten by Miami Beach Police Detective Philippe Archer. “He looked like his face had gone through a meat grinder,” said Mossberg’s attorney Edward O’Donnell.
Cell phone video from a witness captured Mossberg laying on the sidewalk, handcuffed and struggling to get up. Archer, who was undercover at the time, is seen wearing a blue shirt.
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A man has been arrested and charged with third degree grand theft after he allegedly jumped into a North Miami Beach Police cruiser and took it for a joyride, Sunday afternoon.
Police said the marked police vehicle was parked on the South side of the North Miami Beach Police Station when the man entered the vehicle, which may have been unlocked and located the car keys inside. The man then drove off with the police cruiser.
A short time later, officers noticed the vehicle traveling northbound along West Dixie Highway and northeast 172nd Street. Police pulled up in front of the vehicle. The man then rolled down the window and said, “I just wanted to drive for a little bit,” according to police reports.
Witnesses who saw the man driving the cruiser were shocked to find out the man driving was not a police officer. “It was not an officer. It was someone who stole a police car. Its crazy,” said witness Liz Salcedo.
Police identified the man as 28-year-old Stalin Enrique Hernandez. He was immediately taken into custody and charged with third degree grand theft.
North Miami Beach Police are conducting an internal investigation.
The package was found in South Pointe Park Tuesday morning.
